Kurse/Courses #01

9 - 14 AUGUST 2015
6 day residential Workshop
in a wild and beautiful setting
at the Hameau de l'Etoile (Nr Montpellier)
(website CLICK HERE)
led by Margaret with Neil Paris

This workshop is open to anyone interested in the Roy Hart approach to developing the range of vocal expression, through sounding, singing, moving and listening.

ROY HART voice work offers a way to develop a deeper connection to your own unique vocal potential. Because vocal sound has its source in the body as well as in the world of our emotions, play and movement can often unexpectedly free up vocal possibilities that lie hidden and unexpressed. Experiencing this can be extremely liberating and life giving.
Guided by two very experienced and supportive teachers, participants in this workshop will move, dance, sound and sing as they explore and develop awareness of the dynamic sources of the voice in the body and the imagination.
In the mornings we will focus on individual voices and in the afternoons on group improvisation, play and the development of individual themes including work on texts or singing songs.
Participants will be able to relax between classes in a beautiful setting, enjoying comfortable accommodation, excellent food (full board) and unlimited use of the large swimming pool.
Languages used will be English and French - with some translation to German also possible where necessary.
COST (not including food and lodging):
495€ early-bird price for enrolment before 30 May. After this date: 540€
The number of places on the course is limited.

For this workshop it is necessary to also book full board and lodging at the Hameau de l’Etoile, which is organised with great care and friendliness. You will then be free to focus on the workshop and on relaxing in between classes. (No need to organise shopping trips and cooking!) The food served is very healthy as well as delicious (always with vegetarian options.) Prices are from 65€ per night including all meals (with wine), snacks and drinks (available at any time.) There is a bar and use of the large swimming pool is also included. The setting is both peaceful and inspiring. (Information CLICK HERE)

He has taught throughout the UK and Europe and has been working with Margaret Pikes since 2005. He combines playful exercises designed to free the body and spark the imagination with disciplined quiet practices that connect us with our breathing and our own unique interior worlds.

Some feedback from previous partcipants :

"A wonderful week of vocal and physical exploration at Le Hameau. Thank you for all your hard work, care, generosity and the very high level of both group and individual teaching. And with such a brilliant group of people too. I had quite a few personal vocal revelations and the journey continues of course.." 2014 Jane Vicary, Assistant Head of Voice, Alra North UK.

“ The course was one of those few times in the process of creative work that is marked as a key crossroads. In my 30 or so years of learning within creative practise this course goes down as one of those epiphany moments. I feel it has enhanced my development both as a teacher and as an artist. Thank you. The quality of teaching was of a very high standard with close attention to one to one and good group work that offered different levels of learning. Beautiful location and lovely food. Perfect.” C.W. 2013

“I would like to thank you both for a wonderful week that has made a deep impact on me, both as an individual, as a researcher and as an artist. It was a pleasure to work with two sensitive, talented, assured master-teachers. I felt in very safe hands throughout, and felt able to explore my voice in a supportive, non-judgemental environment. The accommodation at L’Hameau de L’Etoile was exquisite – it was wonderful being so close to the stunning natural surroundings and being able to take a dip in the pool after class. I felt that this was a reflection of the great care and attention to detail that went into the whole workshop!" P.C 2012
